We have a new opportunity for two Assistant Connections Managers to join our Battery Box Development Team to lead and manage all aspects of grid connection activities for projects connecting to the GB distribution and transmission networks, working closely with the Connections Manager to support a diverse and growing portfolio of energy projects across the UK.
In addition to grid connections, the Assistant Connections Manager will also have the opportunity to primarily support the Development Team, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of grid connections.
The role will involve
Grid Application Management:
- Prepare and submit grid connection applications to Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs)
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of application requirements, connection codes, and relevant industry regulations.
Offer Review and Cost Engineering:
- Review and interpret connection offers, identifying errors, risks, and opportunities for cost optimisation
- Liaise with technical experts and consultants to evaluate the technical and commercial terms of offers.
Project Tracking and Delivery:
- Monitor and report on the progress of grid connection activities, from application through to energisation.
- Coordinate with network operators, contractors, and project teams to ensure timely delivery of connection works.
- Help build and review processes associated with the role.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Ensure key project information is accurately captured, maintained, and regularly updated in internal systems
- Provide regular updates to the Development team and senior management on connection status and risks.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the point of contact for grid connection matters with external stakeholders, including network operators and technical advisors.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and consultations as required to represent company interests in grid-related discussions.
Support Development Team:
- Assessing suitable sites for Battery Box development through various mapping tools, and site feasibility studies
- Supporting other team members in the identification of projects and assessment of opportunities
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected at this level.
What we are looking for
Passionate and proactive individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and bring the following knowledge, skills and experience –
- In-depth understanding of GB distribution and transmission networks and grid connection procedures
- Familiarity with the Distribution Code and relevant Engineering Recommendations – G99, G100, P28 and G5
- Familiarity with the Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC)
- Confident using a variety of software packages and able adopt industry specific packages
- Experience of working to tight deadlines and managing multiple tasks in a busy office
- Environment
- Passionate about the renewables sector; with an interest in low carbon energy solutions and decarbonisation
- Self-motivated, decisive, and resilient, with the ability to adapt and respond to change in a fast-paced environment and to work as part of a team under direction and, where needed,
- A high level of motivation and a friendly manner to enable effective and positive engagement with colleagues, and key stakeholders.

- Hours of work: 40 hours per week, 9am-6pm
- Contract type: Permanent
