Recruitment of Legal Counsel

The purpose of the role is to assist General Counsel in handling group legal matters.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Responsible for the drafting, negotiating, amending and tracking a range of project based and commercial documents;
  • Managing real estate legal matters within the Group;
  • Assisting the General Counsel in managing disputes and litigation for the Group;
  • Advise and support business units in submitting bids, responding to invitations to tender;
  • Providing contract management support to enforce contract rights and ensure compliance with contractual obligations;
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues;
  • Supporting the business in following the correct legal, compliance and governance procedures to ensure effective contracting, procurement and negotiation;
  • Advising business units to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations that apply to the business as a whole, helping mitigate any possible risks to AMP;
  • Developing and maintaining AMP standard template documentation for use by the business units; and
  • Managing (with the General Counsel) relationships with external parties such as external lawyers, corporate brokers, regulators, registrars, exchanges etc.

The candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • UK qualified solicitor between 2-6 years’ PQE (as a guide) with training in a reputable firm or in-house legal function.
  • Experienced in drafting and negotiating varied commercial contracts in a fast-moving and entrepreneurial environment;
  • Experience of dealing with any (or all) of real estate, commercial and construction matters;
  • Previous in-house or commercial experience in the energy sector;
  • Experience of other relevant areas, including litigation, data protection etc.

  • Self motivated and proactive approach
  • Capable of managing a diverse workload and establishing priorities
  • Ability to working closely with non-lawyers across all parts of the business.

We are offering a competitive salary which will be discussed at interview.

– Location: London, W1S 4LD

 Hours of work: 09:00 – 18:00

– Annual holiday entitlement is 25 days. In addition, you will have an annual entitlement of 8 days for public holidays
