Purpose of the role: Reporting to the Service and Heat Supply Manager, this role involves responsibility for the complete management of the biomass heating system, steam generating equipment, and other heating plant and associated equipment at our Paisley site. This includes all planned and reactive service works, Health Safety Environmental (HSEQ) and statutory compliance, and fuel management. The role involves the line management, mentoring and direction to the site team in order to achieve the stated objectives, as well as overseeing sub-contractor activity.
The site will operate 7 days a week (7am to 4pm). Weekend working required typically one in three, and out of hours on call, on a rota/shift pattern.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- Line management, mentoring and direction for our internal on-site team in order to achieve stated objectives, their progress against targets and continually develop in their role. Manage shift patterns to ensure site presence 7 days a week, and provision of standby on call reactive service.
- Management of sub-contractors for ongoing operation and maintenance or capital works/upgrades as required.
- Manage and facilitate the biomass fuel supply to the site, including manging stock levels, and managing suppliers to ensure a continuous supply of correct specification fuel, compliant with Renewable Heat Incentive, plant and emissions requirements.
- Manage the relationships with boiler manufacturers, to ensure ongoing maintenance and problem resolution.
- Manage all aspects of HSEQ on site, encouraging a strong HSEQ culture and adherence to HSEQ legislation AMP Clean Energy Group, and client/site specific HSEQ rules and policies. Ensure a high standard of site house-keeping.
- Escalate any serious issues or HSEQ concerns to the Service and Heat Supply Manager.
- Conduct regular HSEQ audits, site inductions and tool box talks.
- Overseeing planned maintenance, attendance, testing, and record keeping ensuring compliance with statutory and environmental regulations, Renewable Heat Incentive scheme and industry good practice governing LTHW, steam, feed water quality, biomass combustion and electrical generation, and high voltage equipment as required.
- The role will require periodically being on call to respond to heating outages, loss of service or emergencies as required. This will also include periodic remote performance monitoring of the system during out of hours periods by the on-call engineer.
- Manage the planned maintenance works and repairs carried out by sub-contractors, including water quality management, and ensure these are carried out by competent persons to the required standards.
- Manage spares stock in a proactive manner to minimise plant ‘down time’ reporting stock levels to Service and Heat Supply Manager and facilitating agreed actions as required. Maintain stock records and provide stock counts as required by our Finance team.
- Ensure all equipment, machinery and tooling being utilised on site is fit for purpose and has the appropriate testing and compliance regime in place.
- Ensure accurate and detailed report and record keeping of fuel supply, maintenance, testing, and HSEQ incidents; risk assessments and auditing, via our online HSEQ and service management systems.
- Manage day to day relations with the client’s engineering and maintenance teams and maintain excellent level of communication and working relationship. Endeavour to keep the client appraised at all times of any system performance issues and provide helpful and friendly feedback.
- Represent AMP Clean Energy at client meetings and in contractual discussions as required.
- Undertake other duties as required by the post.
- Ensure all equipment, machinery and tooling being utilised on site is fit for purpose and has the appropriate testing and compliance regime in place.

The candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Experience in asset management and supervising high value heat and steam generating plant and equipment as well as operations and maintenance equipment of large industrial sites with a continual heat demand.
- Supervisory experience and line management responsibility, demonstrating excellent leadership and people skills.
- Experience in managing high levels of performance, and compliance with HSEQ
- Experience of contractual and sub-contractor relationship management in a high energy demand environment
- experience in stock management and reporting
- HSEQ supervisor / site manager level training, for example NEBOSH or IOSH etc
- Technical/Engineering educational qualification, with experience in LTHW, steam, and power generating plant
- Completed Boiler operation accreditation scheme (BOAS) qualification to supervisor level.

Remuneration:
In addition to an excellent remuneration package which will be discussed at interview, we also offer a fantastic bonus scheme, where you can receive a one-off bonus payment of £2,000 after 12 months successful service with AMP Clean Energy.

Location: Paisley
Basic hours of work: 7am and 4pm, average of 40 hours per week (Annualised hours of 2080 per annum).
Holidays: Equivalent to 26 days plus 8 bank holiday, pro rata in accordance with shift pattern.
On Call: Required to be on call as per shift pattern schedule.
Shift Pattern (repeats every 21 days):
- Week 1 – 7 days on plus on call 24/7
- Week 2 – 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off
- Week 3 – 5 days on, 2 days off
