Biomass boiler and heating scheme helps the Carnegie Club achieve its sustainability goals
Introducing low carbon biomass heating has helped the elite Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle meet its Carbon Management Plan. The district heating scheme was the perfect solution to supply off-grid energy – and significant carbon savings – across the 7,500-acre estate.
The Vision:
The Carnegie Club, a private members club set in the beautiful surroundings of Skibo Castle, wanted to make the switch from oil to a low carbon heating system. The business also wanted to fuel the biomass boiler with wood chip from its estate to make the project even more sustainable.
The Solution:
AMP Clean Energy’s specialist engineers installed the biomass boiler and district heating system, which involved laying 800m of pipework. The renewable energy system supplies the castle, surrounding estate lodges and the swimming pool with year-round sustainable heat.
This is a fantastic low carbon project which really demonstrates the value of biomass heat as a dependable off-grid heating source for properties such as the Carnegie Club.
