AMP Clean Energy has opened a major new wood fuel depot in Groveport on the River Trent to support its growing biomass supply business and improve customer service.
The wood pellet depot is the biggest of its kind in Western Europe and will be the base for 75,000 tonnes of wood pellet over the course of a year. It is fitted with specialist screening equipment which will help reduce the number of wood fines and foreign objects, which can be harmful to the operation of biomass boilers. Specialist boats used only for wood fuel, which further helps reduce contaminants, deliver the biomass direct to the depot.
The inland depot will help AMP Clean Energy reduce road miles in their operations with the wood pellet being shipped directly there. Groveport will serve customers as far north as the Scottish borders to Avonmouth in the south.
Roger Pearson, Managing Director of AMP Clean Energy’s Biomass Fuel business, said: “We are delighted to add this major inland depot to our operations. This addition will help ensure we can honour our guaranteed delivery timeframes to customers, and comes hot on the heels of a raft of customer service improvements that we have recently introduced.”
AMP Clean Energy recently invested more than £1 million in a fleet of new more efficient vehicles. The new trucks are part of a suite of improvements to improve customer ordering and delivering experience. This includes a new 0800 number for all orders, route optimisation software to make deliveries as efficient as possible, and electronic proof of delivery.
