Coul House Hotel
Biomass heat cabin provides space saving renewable energy solution or Scotland’s Coul House Hotel
Key Facts
- Commercial Decarbonisation
Significant carbon savings and reliable, hassle-free low carbon heating system
Historic Coul House hotel has all its heat needs wrapped up with a portable biomass heat cabin providing heat and hot water for the 1820s mansion house.
The Vision
Hotel owners Stuart and Susannah Macpherson made the switch from old inefficient oil boilers to biomass heat to go green and take advantage of the Renewable Heat Incentive.
The Solution
AMP recommended the installation of a biomass boiler and back up boiler contained within an attractive biomass cabin. This replaced two older oil boilers at opposite ends of the building. AMP now fully manage the hotel’s low carbon heating system, supplying the wood fuel and service and maintenance, through a heat contract.
“Coul House Hotel is a great example of how biomass heat is the perfect solution for older, harder to heat buildings, which are off the gas grid. The compact biomass cabin is an attractive feature which houses the hotel’s heating system in one place.”
