Our Quality Commitment
At AMP, we’re committed to going above and beyond to provide you with the best quality, sustainable wood fuel to keep your biomass boiler running smoothly and efficiently.
We know just how damaging poor quality fuel can be to your biomass boiler. In fact, it can cause your boiler to breakdown and leave your business without heat, so we take the standard of our fuel very seriously.
We invest heavily in our supply chain and our delivery processes, putting extensive measures in place from our source to your store to protect you from costly breakdowns and help you to maximise the lifespan of your boiler.
Stress tested supply chain
Our long-established, stress-tested supply chain provides you with a 100% dependable high-grade biomass fuel, throughout the year.
Sourcing wood pellet
Our low-moisture, high-density wood pellet meets the highest quality standard in Europe – ENplus A1 certification – which is audited by the European Pellet Council. AMP is a fully accredited ENplus supplier and provides quality assurance right across our supply chain, so you can rest assured that only the best quality wood pellet will reach your stores. We’re also on the Government’s official Biomass Suppliers List (BSL), which means that our pellets – which are made from sustainably sourced forest residues and thinnings – are fully eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
Sourcing wood chip
Our wood chip is locally sourced, seasoned and processed, reducing the risk of contamination and minimising environmental impact. It also comes from virgin fibre sources, which produce low ash content and are free from contaminants. We also ensure that our wood chip has an optimal moisture content – typically between 20-30%. All of our chip is accredited by HETAS and is a recognised Woodsure Plus Quality Assured fuel, so you can be sure that our wood chip meets the highest possible quality and sustainability standards. Like our wood pellet, our chip is also Biomass Supplier List (BSL) accredited timber which is fully eligible for the RHI.
Transporting your wood fuel
Even the highest grade wood fuel can crumble if it’s not transported with care, so we’ve put extensive measures in place to ensure your biomass fuel reaches you in the best condition possible.
All of our biomass wood pellet shipments are inspected by independent, accredited surveyors that remain on-site throughout the unloading process to inspect the pellet and all of the machinery involved. The surveyors take samples at various intervals throughout the unloading and submit them to an independent, UKAS-accredited laboratory to check the shipment is compliant with the ENplus A1 specification. If there’s an issue with any of the samples, the entire shipment is rejected.
We have market-leading wood fuel depots that are fitted with specialist screening equipment to reduce the number of fines and foreign objects. The depots have twin screens that can each process 100 tonnes of wood pellet per hour, minimising dust and contamination.
We made significant investment into our biomass delivery fleet, so our fleet includes a number of state-of-the-art trucks designed to optimise the quality of your fuel. With on-board screening facilities to filter out dust and other contaminants that can arise during transportation and a non-tipping delivery system that blows directly into your store through an auger, your fuel is protected throughout the delivery process.
Delivering to your site
Our high standards don’t stop when we reach your site – we’re dedicated to keeping your fuel in top condition right up to your store.
All of our drivers have completed training on the ENplus® requirements for controlled delivery of pellets in order to ensure the fuel arrives in the best condition possible to your store. If they have any issues at the loading depot, drivers themselves can reject a delivery, which will then be reported directly to our dedicated Health, Safety and Quality Manager who monitors these situations and prevents future issues from arising.
Our new ordering and delivery software includes electronic proof of delivery and proactive monitoring of all of the activities associated with the ENplus® requirements, to ensure pellet condition is maintained during its journey from the depot to your store.
All of the extensive quality assurance processes we’ve put in place mean that you can rest assured that the fuel you receive from us meets the highest industry quality and sustainability standards.
